taking the head off of my motor tomorrow to see why all this oil is coming out of cylinder 3. does anybody happen to know off the top of there head what the torque specs are for the head bolts on this engine and... do the valve covers need torqued to a certain point?? last weekend i looked at my valve cover on the right, it was so loose i could almost wiggle it off with my hand. also i heard there are no gaskets beetween the head and the block.. sooo... i can check the head out then put it right back on right? or did someone lie to me? any help is appreciated

thanks in advance,
joe L

Some motors do have head gaskets and some dont... not like your typical gasket on a water cooled, but a copper "gasket".. its more or less a shim that seals off, and they come in different thicknesses.. its a different way to shim things and play with compression.. you can clean and reuse, but IMO opinion its better to replace.

Check a book for specs.. its a different way around and torqued tighter each time

Good deal! :D hopefully with a little luck everything will come apart and go back together with no problem, or so I hope. I'll make sure to post some pics just in case there is something I miss from my visual inspection. Also, I'm putting a stereo system in the buggy tomorrow.
