So me and my friend got to talking about drag racing and what not. So eventually we got to the part were we were questioning what is faster a 1000xp or my 2165cc stroker buggy. Granted the rzr has a cvt drive and can just mash it and go but power to weight ratio wouldn't I have the advantage here? I mean yeah I've got to shift gears unlike the rzr but I feel like a motor this size should be able to outrun a rzr... what do you guys think?

The problem the rzr would have is to get the hole shot they would have to be in low range which tops out about 40mph I think and they can't shift to high on the fly.

They do hole shot nice we raced 3 times he got me 60' every time once to 100' but I would be 20' + on him by finish.

I've smoked two 1000's with my ss with a 2387. A buddy of mine has a 2276 and beat one of them also. The other one wouldn't race him. Chad

But thru the woods he has to watch EVERY dip, pot hole, and wash out. That's when you use him for traction. Also, I'd hate to hit a 4 wheeler head on, but not as bad as he would hate to hit the heavy steel of Der Panzervagen.. I often keep my head lites on in the day time. Ride safe!

Lol that's funny. Can a rzr be in 4 wheel drive and still achieve top speed? And speaking of rzrs and there safety have you guys seen the rzr that flipped 16 times down three pole? I'll try to find a link. At least when a buggy flips since it's longer it only flips a couple times and sticks to the ground.Polaris RZR flip on 3 pole @ Rush KY: http://youtu.be/ALOOfQzoEkA

That guy walked away with a small cut. He was lucky.. the rzr was trashed. We tied the rzr to a ranger truggy with a 460 in it and drug it out.

Yes it is..lol the most rolls that I've done at once in a rzr is 4. It seemed like it was never going to stop... it was a back flip then into barrel rolls. I didn't care for it much. My last roll in a rzr was on flat ground. It knocked me out and crushed an aftermarket cage. I even had my harnesses on.

I have a Jagged X 900xp and my son has a 1000xp. We both have 2500 ss buggies too.
We've raced his buggy against my JaggedX and against a regular 900xp and they are closer than I ever thought they'd be. The buggy will outrun the rzrs in an 1/8 th mile or so, but not by a ton. If you dont make a clean run in the buggy the rzr will be right on your ass, miss 3rd and the rzr can be next to you by the time you find the gear! I don't know about a long run. We launched the buggies in 2nd and were just about at the end of third when we had to start braking, but our gearing is all changed. I'd think they buggy would still pull away, but my RZR is pretty stable at high speeds. Ive been in A LOT of woods buggies that get pretty sketchy at speed.
We launched the rzrs in high. 2wd or 4wd doesnt make a huge difference in the outcome of the short runs we made because 4wd it will launch harder, but it doesnt pull as hard at the big end.
Haven't ran either buggy against his 1000 yet, though. I can tell you it FEELS pretty damn potent when you drop the hammer on it.

There are so many variables in buggy builds too, it'd be hard to "throw a blanket over it" and say every stroker buggy would outrun every RZR.

Passat , you are wrong about the rzr slowing down for bumps n stuff on a trail. Old ones, yeah they would jar your head loose, but the newer ones soak up holes and bumps and sail over water breaks and handle awesome. The faster you trail ride the smoother they feel.

IMO....RZRS are cool, but not as fun to drive as my buggy. And they won't take the abuse of rough hill climbing like a good buggy. Probably as close as you can get to perfect for moderate trail riding fast and party riding. We've never broke either RZR just trail riding.

Another thing to consider is the gearing of 2500 2nd gear buggies aren't really ideal for drag racing. Like Chad said, he has smoked two 1000s with his 2276 ss buggy. I have no doubt any stock r/p 6 rib buggy would smoke most any 2nd gear buggy in a drag race unless there is driver error or traction problems.

Well I took it out this weekend against my friends 400ex bored no a 416 and smoked him. I figure once I cut the shifter down a little and get my carb in. Sync this race against a 1000xp is going to be fun. Lol. Once I get someone to line em up ill make sure I take a video.

Looks like I got a race coming up in January against a 1000xp has a hmf pipe and a fuel customs intake. Other then that it's stock. I'm rebuilding my 2165 down to the jugs. Also thinking about buying a dual carb setup. Do you guys have any other suggestions to assure I win? Lol
