Our group has been using hand held radios .30 mile rang water proof the ones that they sell for hunting .They are small easy to hear rechargeable batteries that will last all weekend priced from $40.00 to 100.00 for 2

Do you mean the Motorola type radios? Kind of like a Walkie Talkie?

Do you have a brand name of model that you have been pleased with?

I'd go back to CB's right now if my group would. With phones people did not pay there bill, dead battery, don't know each others number, no signal. With CB's it's POW! right now everyone knows to turn left, who's going to the store, why are we stopping, watch out for that hole., has anyone got an 18mm deep well socket, has anyone seen Frank? Frank will be here at 5:00, etc etc etc. I have 2 powerful ones on the shelf in the barn but no one to talk to!!! CB's was 1/2 the fun back in the day. Backing down a hill with someone talking you down was priceless.

We would be lost (litterly LOL) without our CBs. Our group uses them and it's great to be able to talk back and forth so everyone is on the same page. It also allows us to hook up with other groups that ride at different times and camp at different places where we ride.

If you buy hand held radios everyone would need hand held radios. CB's are everywhere and they are cheap. I used the cheapest radio you could get from Radio Shock and a good antenna, it seemed to work better than the big dollar radios. You can get a Cobra radio with bluetooth so you could use a phone with it, but it's not cheap. Besides it's hard to loose a mounted CB, not so hard to loose a hand held.

I've had the best luck out of the cheap radio shack cb's also. And of course a whip is the best but I've been running a tiger shark on a 4" spring and it's adjustable and works really well. The biggest thing is to put a standing wave meter on them and get them right and just about any will work good. It should be mandatory to have one IMO cause it can save time, lives, and plus some of the funniest shit I've ever Heard has been on the radio, lol. Chad

Funny thing is that Radio Shack does not even sell CB radios anymore. I cannot find anywhere local to buy a CB radio. I will be going to Amazon to get one.

Saw them in a truck stop in KY recently, I would image any truck stop would have them.

I also thought it is funny that wallmart always has sold a little cb radio but they have never sold antennas for them :-o

Hmm! Yep you guys with them cheap as CBs sound like you have marbles in your mouth. Get a cobra 29 that has a built in tuning meter and be heard!

Exactly Ody. Years back the cheapies worked great but had to be modified somehow by a CB tech. They worked great if you were looking at the person you were talking to!lol The Cobra Rebel something something was my weapon of choice that I still have in the barn.

I HAVE BEEN TALKING ON CB'S FOR 20 YEARS AND THEY ARE A LOT OF FUN IN A BUGGY I HAVE FOUND THAT A COBRA 25 IS ABOUT THE BEST ON THE MARKET FOR THE PRICE FOR A BUGGY I HAVE GALAXYS IN MY HOUSE AND A MAGNUM S-6 IN MY TRUCK MY BASE STATION HAS A 600 WATT HELPER ON IT AND WILL TALK FOREVER,ON MY BUGGY I USE A FIRESTICK WITH A 4IN SPRING ,IF YOU KEEP YOUR COAXE IN 3FT INCREMENTS YOUR SWR WILL REMAIN AROUND 1.5 WHICH IS PRETTY GOOD .I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT ALOT OF THINGS BUT I KNOW RADIOS HAVE A COUPLE OF HANDHELDS ALSO AND THEY ARE OK BUT ARE EASY TO LOSE 8)
