Here are some pics of the car I was working on last weekend. We will be finishing it up this weekend. It is a Hurst Edition Hemi Challenger. It is also the very first one they made. It is called the Hurst Pak One! This is my old boss's car (he taught me most of what I know about custom car audio) and he decided for his 40th birthday we would put a full stereo system in it. He had two requirements when we started.... 1: No Permanent Modifications (1 of 1 car) 2: All old school "made in usa" car audio gear was to be used.

Here is the pile of gear we drug out from under his workbench...

And here is the car it went in...

The chairman of hurst shifters signed it for him...

And the original "Miss Hurst" from the 60's...

Here is the production placard on the dash...

Here is the engine bonnet signed by the dealer who sold it to him...

First we took all the seats out and ditched the 18" space saver spare...

Once the wires were installed we removed the door and dash panels and installed Image Dynamics 6x9's and OZ Audio Tweeters. We also upgraded it to the factory mopar touch-screen while we were in there. It uses a Rockford Fosgate 360 unit to adapt stock radio to aftermarket amps. 360 Unit also has digital EQ built into it for tuning...

We decided to do a single 12" Sub in the spare tire well with a stealth cover. The amps will be hidden in there as well. It works out very well since they put the battery in the trunk on the new challengers. The amps are the ORIGINAL series of Soundstream Amps. They are at least 15 years old and they work like a champ still.

The box will be fiberglassed in the places it had to be cut to conform to the trunk floor. The sub we are using in the car is very unique. The person who owns the car also owned the subwoofer company. These subs were bad a*#!!! He was in business making them for a couple years, but they never took off like they should have. I have one of his prototype subs in my car as well...

More to come this weekend...

I like rule #2 :) (Buy American) and even though I'm not a Dodge fan it is a very cool car :)
