Is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke Detroit diesel?

Yeah the old Detroits sound like they are revving to the moon when actually they don't wind much tighter than any other diesel.
They just sound that way 'cause they fire every revolution.

Old truckers say to drive a Detroit you have to slam your hand in the door a time or two to get good and pissed.
Then you can drive one properly...........

We had an old Fire Truck once with a 2 stroke,,,you could roll it off backwards and the engine would run backwards,,,one forward gear and 4 reverses.
