The event is open to buggy’s also. They would be in our “unlimited” class of competitors…
I’ve attached a copy of the rules and regulations from last year. I can’t promise that they will be the same this year since we continue to make changes and improvements in the interest of safety, but they should give you an idea of what is required and where to start.

2008 King of the Hill Rules
Qualifications for Entrance
Entrants must be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
All vehicles must pass Technical Inspection (see below).
Drivers and spotters must sign a Release Form. Any Driver or Spotter 18 years old or younger must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Release Form.
Classifications
RCRC King of the Hill Registrar will determine the competition class based on this criterion:
Class A, Limited Small: Factory frame from front axle to rear axle with 36" or smaller tires.
Class B, Limited Big: Factory frame from front axle to rear axle with taller than 36" tires.
Class C, Unlimited: Tube/custom frame any point between the axles, and any size tires.
Classification of vehicles determined by RCRC King of the Hill Registrar is final.
Technical Inspection
All vehicles must meet the following requirements in order to compete:
Factory hard top, roll bar or roll cage.
Functioning brakes.
Fire Extinguisher.
Seat belts for driver & spotter.
Tow hooks front and rear (trailer balls do not count).
Battery bolted or strapped down (no bungie cords).
All interior items tied down and secure.
No fuel allowed other than gasoline, diesel or propane (nitrous is OK). Absolutely no alcohol fuel allowed.
Event Rules
1. Listen to and take direction from the RCRC Event Staff. The goal for the event is to allow everyone to compete safely and fairly with the utmost attention paid to safety. All decisions by any RCRC Event Staff member are considered official. Appeals may be made to the 2008 RCRC King of the Hill Course Marshall, Paul Wright.
2. Any use of alcohol or illegal drugs by any competitor or spotter will result in immediate disqualification without refund of entry fee. RCRC is committed to safety and we will err on the side of caution. This event is on private property and RCRC will not tolerate anything which we deem to be unsafe, especially situations which might put Event Staff, spectators or other competitors at risk. RCRC Event Staff decisions on this subject will be final.
3. This is a simple timed event with timing equipment provided and operated by SCCA. Vehicles will be staged by the RCRC Event Staff (i.e. positioned for start). There will be timing lights at the Start and Finish line. The competitor will be cleared to enter the course by the RCRC Event Staff Starter. Timing will begin when the vehicle breaks the timing light at the Start line and end when the vehicle passes through the timing light at the Finish line. All time on the course will count.
4. Competitors may run the course multiple times as time permits. When each run is complete, competitors will proceed to the end of the staging line for their next opportunity.
5. A “time ceiling” will be set by the RCRC Course Marshall at the beginning of the event. The time ceiling will be the maximum amount of time that a vehicle is allowed to complete the course. This ceiling will be based on the condition of the course and the number of entrants waiting to run the course. Any entrant that does break the time ceiling will be asked to leave the course and rejoin the line in the competitor staging area. Note: The “time ceiling” may be adjusted during the event as deemed necessary by the RCRC Course Marshall. An informal driver’s meeting will be called at that time to explain the need for change.
6. Competitors are free to choose their preferred route on the course, as long as their vehicle does not touch the course boundary tape. Any part of the vehicle touching course boundary tape will be disqualified for that run. The exception is if a vehicle touches the tape where it attaches to a tree. Tires or wheels can pass under the tape, but touching the tape is a disqualification. Note: An optional course will be available only to the Limited Small division that is longer, but somewhat easier.
7. In the event of a rollover, breakage, or impeded progress, if an entrant asks for outside help in moving the vehicle, the run is considered over and a DNF is recorded.
8. Competitor vehicles may not aid each other during a timed run.
9. All Drivers and Spotters in the vehicle must wear seat belts and helmets while on the course.
10. Spotters may enter and exit the vehicle only when the vehicle is completely stopped.
11. Spotters may perform any act of assistance to the vehicles progress including, but not limited to, strapping, winching, rock stacking, pushing, and spotting for the vehicle. Spotters may not touch the vehicle while it is in motion. Straps or ropes attached to the vehicle cannot be wrapped around any part of the spotter’s body.
12. RCRC Event Staff may rule any driver and/or spotter action to be unsafe. If an action is deemed unsafe by the RCRC Event Staff, said action must cease immediately and may not be repeated.
13. Broken vehicles will be removed immediately from the course by the RCRC Event Staff. Removal will be at the convenience of the RCRC Event Staff, although every effort will be made to avoid damage to the competitor’s vehicle.
14. The event is considered over when all competitors are unable or unwilling to make another run, or when RCRC Event Staff calls the event over at 5:00pm. Vehicles on the course at 5:00pm may complete the run. Note: the RCRC Course Marshall has the authority to alter the end of the event as necessary.
15. After the pronouncement of the end of the event, RCRC Event Staff will announce the winner in each class and deliver the appropriate purse which will include all entry fees generated by the respective class. All entrants’ awards will be paid out as follows: 1st – 50%, 2nd – 25%, 3rd – 25%. The overall winner will receive the King of the Hill trophy; however, no purse is associated with this title.
16. The pronouncement by the RCRC Event Staff of the “King of the Hill” and winner of each class is final and cannot be appealed.
The RCRC Course Marshall reserves the right to disqualify and/or dismiss a competitor without refund if they cannot compete in the King of the Hill event in accordance with the rules set forth.
. If you are only 2WD with low clearance, you may not be able to manage such an obstacle. That said, if you are willing to pay, you’re more than welcome to come out and put on a show. In the meantime, I’ll talk to my Tech Inspectors and Course Manager to see if they have any other advice to offer. "
