I've had no trouble other than a game warden sitting at the Church lot last sat.. But the key to keeping this place is to keep the trouble out to begin with. Run silent, Run deep. We'd have to go in that way. Don't spread any info to the riff raff. I'll get us in and I'll get us out and we will stay far from the old trestle bridges and long hill. Park below my house. Let's go in as a group about 11 am .My wife will check the entrance in her car and call us b4 we leave out. It's 1 mile to the gate.

Passat, I just don't want to have any trouble from the Leeds PD or worse the game warden since they have more power than the Secret Service. Thinking we should ride Fultondale?

I understand, but are you up for sat , sun or both? I have a backside secret tunnel that I can only use any evening and all day sun, a 1/4 mile from my house. Sat morning is the only time I can't guarantee. But the wife can give us an "all clear." All of our "local" group will be there sat and sun, regardless.

leeds is alot of fun to ride.. good hills and alot of trails and woods to spend the day BUT the heat on it has me leary of going out

fultondale is the sh :!: t if your going to climb hills but there is no "riding"... the interstate messed all that up and its really hard to make a day out of it.. hill for hill, fultondale is the best kept secret in alabama, its got ALL you want 8)

yep, ill be beating the bushs down somewhere.. so fultondale? if you aint scared of a lil pavement, there is a good powerline about a mile down the road if anybody want to hit it too.. would help make a day of riding without doing a whole lot of sitting at the same place 8)

I'd have to borrow Austin's Tahoe. The gas to get it here and back to him plus the gas to load up and go and come back drunk. I backed the Dodge into the Cahaba to help a kid and it took a gulp of water and blew a head gasket and bent a piston rod. I'll have it fixed in a week or so. I better stick to Leeds. Sorry..Try to hit ol HHH in the old Coalberg neighbor hood. A quick history lesson. The Republic mine had dozens of grids that ran from the Flying J truckstop to behind Adkin's grocery. In 1943 there was an explosion that killed 20. All the big executives and sheriffs and mine inspectors raced into the mine while the gas built up again and a smoldering shirt lit off the 2nd explosion and killed those to a total of 40.There was a 10 page deposition account minute by minute in detail of miners burnt bad and living or dying. The explosion happed on the Adkins Grocery side down Five Mile Creek Rd. I can tell you where the Hamilton, Graves, Morrow,Hilldale Coalberg and Lewisberg mines were and their recorded accidents as far back as the 1890's.Where my old "Garage was had 5-7 houses on the 1941 aerial photos. I can show you where huge stones were chiseled out to make the r.r. trestle bridges. Some sealed mines and some equipment and a long stone wall. That old rr bed going thru Shady grove was 1885.The 1 still used is 1903.The ol car bridge over 5 mile creek was 1905 I think. The original Coalberg rd went along side Smokey falls and Y'ed up to Xtra lease Trucking and the other to the Yellow gate on Daniel Payne Blvd.A rr passed by Grass Hill and Hulk hill of coarse and went on into Pratt City.On foot I can take you to a breath taking beautiful huge hidden valley with stones as big as dump trucks. I never disclosed it because the chain drives and rock crawlers would destroy a million years of nature in a day. The overhanging cliff rocks below my old 30' camper were incredible. There is 1 place I have not hiked, that stream that flows across the dirt road between hulk and grass. Aerial photos of 1949 show the stream going way up in to a huge canyon. The vegetation is just too thick for me.It looks like going into the Amazon rain forrest.

:| What? Everybody travels from all over Alabama to the great Fultondale and yall drive down the pavement to a simple powerline! Take a blanket, some wine and a chunk of cheese and sit under the trees, if that's all yall are going to do...Do like we used to do in the 90's. All of ya funnel a beer, release brakes and dive off into the ugliest valley and commit yourself to a great day of fighting your way back out. That's how all those pits were made back then. We were dumb but had fun! I'll get the Dodge fixed and pull a buggy out there soon.
