New to the buggy blast, lookin to take my project buggy water cooled. It came with (I'm assuming) a five rib tranny and am wanting to know if it will handle an eco tech or ford 2.3 both stock. Mainly gonna keep this one on the road, the fall winter project will be the woods machine. Any thoughts......

On the road it should be ok, just dont pound it to death on takeoffs. But it really should have a 6 rib with a super-diff. Plus a 6 rib would be higher geared for street driving.

just like nitro said on the road 6 rib gearing is your ticket. off road 5 rib is the sweet spot for the ecotec gearing.
