so im goin to drews tomrow to get my shifter and linkage ect. i dont want to make 2 trips so i ask. my 1600cc is hooked up to a 3 rib with a 6rib bell. i dont have the cable hooked up to it yet but i can push the clutch lever down with my hand, {yes spring is on and in good shape} . is it suppose to be that easy? or is somethin worn out on my tranny . i can see where the lever hits rubs on the pressure plate. but it is old and rusty. i was thinkin about gettin a kennedy pressure plate with stock disk? is somethin wrong with my tranny or is my origaol clutch assembly old? |

If your saying you can disingauge the clutch plate from the pressure plate by hand then I would replace them. If your saying you can push the lever so far and it stops with in a 1/2" to 5/8" from the top of the stroke thens its normal. You would take all that out less 1/8" for freeplay with yopur cable adjustment. If it moves farther than that replace the disk because its worn out. Personally I would replace the stock setup with the Kennady 1700# pressure plate and a Cushlock disc. |

A third of it is freeplay (easy to move) & the next third should take real effort. A stock clutch is barely adequate for 50 HP. It may work OK for a while under power but it wont do the job once it heats up. Eventually you will put more power to it so get the Kennedy now. It will last for years & save you from swapping it mid-season. |

Lots of folks use a stock clutch disc. But the Pressure Plate needs updating,,to a Kennedy stage 2,3, or 4 depending on HP. While you got it tore down you might want to get a machinist mill the starter seat so you can run a cheaper starter. Late model diesel for automatic is wicked stout , Make sure it has 9 teeth. The 6 rib bell is stronger as far as the cross shaft goes. good luck ,,,and brake that promise of no more questions.

haha sorry i just been readin the forum and i got like 3 or 4 threads at the very top of every category. i dont want people to get sick of me cause im askin so many questions. sorry though first buggy. second will be easeyer  so i guess il get the stage 3 kennedy, with stock clutch? and i can move the arm down all the way if i just put a little pressure on it. it just seems weird i can do that? u think you have to put alot more force into it

A stage 3 Kennady is not nessasary until your at 200 plus HP. I would go with the stage 1 or 2. Are you actually disengaugung the clutch with your hand? |

I cant run a stock disc because when my frontend is coming up or my tires are biting hard I slip the clutch to maintain RPM's & get the nose down. I run a 3 puck lined race disc because it still grabs hard even hot. I can smoke a stock disc in an hour or less. Keep that in mind when you decide. |

Or have your forks that hold the throw out bearing to the cross shaft broke loose or bent back? They are only spot welded from the factory. Its a good idea to run a bead of mig where the forks meet the cross shaft. |

This may be a dumb answer as it is a question. Is n't a 6 rib bell houseing longer than that of a 3 or 5 rib? Because if it is, that set up may allow more free play on the leaver. |
