Does anybody know what kind of gearing a 911 5 speed, about a 75 model, has? how tuff are they? and will a type I vw bolt up to them? thanks. |

Ive always wanted to try the 914 trans myself. I know its a sideshift & it does hang a little low but what kind of crap will it take? |

I think the 911's came in 2 flavors, 7x31 and 8x31 r&p, I'm not positive. |

Don't bother with the 914 trans. I have one in my shop that broke the mainshaft with a factory engine and street tires. 1st gear hangs out the nosecone side of the intermediate housing so its pretty weak and will break mainshafts when dropping the clutch. |

All of them are high $$$ when you have to repair. Stay away. Sell them to a Porsche guy and take the profits and spend them on tried and true products. |
