Is anyone exploring using newer Transmissions out of front wheel cars for trail use ?

Seems a prime candidate would be a Chevy Cavalier or similar with coil overs.

Of course I'm suggesting using the Chevy power plant as well.

The VW based components are getting rarer each year and the price is getting up there with Porche.

Theres a guy that has a 2.8 and auto from a corsica in a buggy that runs at wellsville from time to time. Hes sellin it but the only thing is that when you put big tires on it the struts flex real bad.

My buddy roy did a V6 out of some GM car. Problem he had was with the Diff wanting to tourque steer. And cutters would only work on one side.

about 10 years back there was a buggy running at Wellsville that had a V6 running thru a Fiero manual transaxle.

Somewhat crude but with some coil overs and refined suspenssion it would have been a good prototipe.

I've seen that buggy go up some hills in the "pits" area in reverse.

You sure it was a four cylinder out of fiero? If so, my dad had this buggy... I believe it was john deere green at one time, but when we had it, it was yellow...
