I was installing my new 6 rib tranny and I found out that two CV bolts are broken off in the CV flange. Is it easier to just replace the flange or is there an easy way to get the broken CV bolt out.

To replace the flange, any recommendations on what flanges to buy and where...

its real easy most of the time to get them out, theres no pressure on them, jus drill them out and get an ease out and unscrew them

You may find when drilling them out they will spin out the back side of the flange. I would suggest you remove it from the trans to allow that to happen. A "C" clip behind the seal that holds it in.

I use left handed drill bits for broken bolts and studs.

Left handed bits are to cheap not to have them as good a job as they do. I normally get them from enco.

It turns out that the guy I bought my tranny from feels bad that the bolts were broken so he is going to replace the flange for free.

Thanks for all of the replys

If its tool junkies you want to find you should go to http://www.garagejournal.com/.

Don't throw the old flange out. You can probably get the bolts out with it off the trans. If you have a MIG welder you can tack to the end of them and keep building it up until you can grab it with vise grips.
