I talked with a buggy builder today and he said to be very careful with the new engine (Ecotec 2.4 L) because I will tear my transmission up because of the amount of torque the engine has. I just had my transmission torn down and rebuilt and everything looked good on the inside. I called the guy who rebuilt my tranny and he said not to worry about it because he has been running a 6 cylinder and has not had any problems caused by the power. On the other hand the buggy builder said I should at least put in a ring and pinion made by Richmond (At least that is what I thought he said) and distributed by Weddle. I posted in another topic asking for the price of the ring and pinion but I would like some thoughts on this before I go and have it torn down again. Thanks, Bryan |

It is my understanding that a 6 rib with a super diff will handel up 300 HP before you have issues. Keep in mind that even the best built trans will break if your off the ground andkland with throttle on. Be nice to it and it will be nice to you. |

This all depends on two things..........what tires you use and how heavy your buggy is. |

You will tear up a stock 6 rib with that combo. You will need to invest in some aftermarket parts to put in it to make it last. |

I wouldn't worry about the ring and pinion so much. A stock 4:56 is the strongest stock r&p you can get. Depending on how you drive, it could last forever. I have relentlessly beat the crap out of my stock 4:56 for 3 years of trail riding and then 3 hard years of racing pushing close to 200 HP with no issues. I have blown first gear before. Run a cromo pinion nut and a super diff, and use you head, and it should hold up. |

For just playin around in the woods, a cheapy superdiff would be fine. Unless you are going to be throwing unusual amounts of punishment at it, get the cheap one. |
