Ok I'm still trying to figure out my shift rod I got my shifter today my question is i was told to put trans in neutral and also shifter in neutral and measure from the ball on the shifter to the adjuster to get the length for my shift rod my question is on my shifter there is a spring that forces it to the left side so how do you determine where neutral is would it be just staight up with the ball in the middle thanks

I will assume you allready have a coupling on the trans shaft and you shift rod looks like a piece pipe. I will also assume the ball you are refering to is the one on the bottom of the shifter that sits in your shift rod. Having said that yes the ball wants to be in the center of your foward,backward and side to side movement of the shifter. Also your shifter wants to be in the center of the two mounting bolts.
