Buddy of mine bought a buggy w/1915, weber 40,w-110 cam, good heads, has 31x15.5x15 terra tires on steel wheels, stock trailing arms, thing stubs and a 3-rib. Buggy had a new stock rebuilt 3-rib put in 3yrs. ago and had 5-10 rides on it. Was parked and sat uncovered through the rain and snow here in ohio for the last 1 1/2-2yrs. without being ran at all. Tranny now pops out of all gears under a load. My question is could the inside of that tranny rusted out from sitting through all that weather? What could the problem be? I told him to go with a 6-rib with that motor but 6-ribs are hard find right now. Jason

Unless the trans was submersed in water up past the breather, sitting outside would not be a problem for the trans. I would start with linkage adjustment. Also make sure the shifter is actually putting the trans fully in gear.

that would be my 1st guess if it shifted fine when it was parked ........ i had one that sat outside like that and the stem of the shift rod sticking out of the tranny had surface rust and didnt want to move enough to fully egage the gear........but it had water inside the the case when i went to cahange the gear oil ...........little bit of sanding and some silikroil on the shaft and some fresk gear oil works fine now........ has a slight bearing roar but gonna run it till it breaks
