First off i had a blast this weekend we were out all day friday saturday and sunday, other than my 1641 being a little weak for my heavy buggy everything was great. Heres the bad part, while backing off my T trailer my front tires set down where the back tires sit and there was a loud pop and now nothing in reverse but all forward gears work in my 3 rib, im kind of glad it happened at my garage and not out on a trail. Over the winter i put a super diff in from weddle with 11 tooth spiders and it has chromoly 930 axle flanges, should i try to find a 5 rib to put my parts in or upgrade to a 6 rib and sell the 002 parts to offset the price of a 6 rib and 930 drive flanges? Im kind of worried about the higher gearing of the 091 because im constantly shifting from 1st to 2nd on the trail already.

u can use any case u want to,they are all the same,002 gears are strong if u buy weddle gears, keep ur 002 and buy a 1st and 2nd gear stack and put it all in a 5 or six rib case then u will have a strong tranny,,sounds like u got reverse or the gear came off in the bell housing

Little difference in strength of a 3, 5 or 6 rib reverse gears.
All straight cut spur gears with little engagement.
Until you upgrade the powerplant you won't be happy with a 5 or 6 rib.
Those are geared taller than your 3 rib.

091 case is different than the 002 style.

a 3 5 and 6 rib case aint the same?ive never seen the difference, ive put a 6 rib case on a 3 rib mid section, there all the same length, bellhousings are different

What are you calling mid-section?
The part the CV drive flanges come out?

What are you calling the case?

091 6 rib has wider gearbox gears.

a case is a case,3 5 or 6 rib,if u have the right bearing cups that hold the diff in,u can use any case u want in an 002 transmission

You can use any case.
The part I meant was different was the section behind the nosecone.
