So what weight oil does everyone run in there trans. I've just ran the cheap 80/90 in my car trans in the past but since I have a bus trans now I figured maybe I should look into this. So what do you run and why?

steve, if you remember when i blew up my tranny and i had that thick ass 140 gear oil in there, remember looking at the spider gear pin? and how gulled up it was from the thick oil not getting between the spider gears and the pin. when brian rebuilt my tranny, he told me to use 90 weight. now i run royal purple 90 weight.

Heavier oil will cushion gears better BUT will be harder to shift, especially when cold. You gain in one area, but you lose somewhere else.

Ok guys im assuming that a quality 80/90 non synthetic gear oil will be alright to run in my tranny?I was also thinking about using 1 quart of Lucas gear oil and the rest regular because that Lucas stuff is some good stuff, yet expensive.
