I have a super diff and an 091 from a watercooled with the side shift. I would like to at least have the super diff put in for now. What else can I have done now on a budget without replacing all the gears with weddle. I just don't have a couple grand to spend after the powder coat and all. I need bang for the buck, any recommendations? |

The super diff is about all you need for now. There is one mod you could do to make it shift better. There is a tension spring on the driver side of the trans that can be removed. Its under the 3 bolt housing opposite the shift arm. |

Turboblue told me about the spring on the reverse switch. I guess the linkage slides better with it removed. Thanks, I guess for now I will just have the superdiff installed. Anyone local to the Dayton/ Cincinnati Ohio area that wants to put in a super diff? I will try to build or repair about anything but transmissions have always made me nervous. I have plenty of other things to work on to get this project done. |

if I can put a superdiff in you can! very easy to do just remove the bearing collets on the sides, remove ring gear, reinstall ring gear then put it back in. make a mark on the collets when removing them then count the turns out on both sides then when putting it back in you can get it very close. |

Well if its that easy maybe I'll rip it apart and try it. I have to put 930 flanges on anyway. |

Piece of cake to install a super diff. You can call me and I will be glad to give you some pointers or walk you through it. It's really not difficult. There are things you need to know to do it 100% correctly. |

I got the superdiff in today! I just got nuts and went at it. I marked the thrust retainer things (whatever you call them) and the case with a punch and just counted the rotations. I made my own tool with a piece of tube that was about the same diameter as the I.D of the retainer. I then welded 3 beads on the tube and ground them to a point until the fit pretty snug in the retainer. A couple taps with a mallet and they came loose and I just backed them all the way out. I didn't buy a gasket for the bellhousing I just used some RTV silicone. Everything seems to turn smooth and it looked good inside with just a few small metal shavings. This was easy but I think I will leave the Weddle gears and rebuild to the pros when it comes time for it. Thanks to everyone for the help. |

I never use silicone on mine i use indian head gasket glue then take brown bag or the brown paper like you get at the hardware store, even used the brown bag out of the inside a dog food bag once but never silicne.thats stuffs hard to clean out or off of anything.ive never had them to leak and can take them back apart and sometimes get to save the gasket and use it again.just put the gasket glue on one side only. |
