Need more information.
What motor?
What tire size?
What are you doing with it, hill climbing, trail riding or interstate?
How much are you willing to compromise on gear ratios?

I'd think a 6 rib has fast enough gearing for a 1915. But you can gain speed by installing taller gears, but it will have slower acceleration unless you change the size of your ring and pinion.

Stock 6 rib gearing with a 28" tire puts you about 65mph at 3000 RPM.
3K is pretty optimal for cruising speed.
Besides that I don't think you will find a taller 4th or a R&P for an 091.

that 6 rib with 28" tires and a 1915 should last a really long time stock and it should have good hiway speed

You said in your first post your wanted more highway speed............. :?

Yeah use what Chris suggested for 1/2 or go to a 5 rib.
That gives you almost the same 1/2 but a little more rpm in 3/4.

Hey Duneracer,

Just wondering, what is your top speed with a 6 rib? I run an 1835 with a 3rib and 30in tires. I can easily cruise at 65mph but it will go upto 85mph with the RPM around 4500.

Just wondering what would happen if I changed from a 3 rib to a 6 rib..

3 rib uses a 532 or so and the 6 rib uses a 457 so you would get a higher top end.

It will be hard to find a transmission set-up the way you want it, there will be alot of trial and error until you like it.....I would personally run a 6-rib stock, it will be better than a 3-rib or 5-rib for a 1915cc, but you will lose bottom end unless you have a stroker motor or change the R&P in it for a set of lower ones like 5.13:1 or something like that. I run 3.44 1st and 2.77 2nd in my 6-rib with 4.56:1 R&P and that gives me killer speed and torque on the hills with my 2276cc on the old Packrat so imagine how much more I will gain by shaving off almost 500lbs. by putting the same engine and transmission on my new single-seater. :D
