I need more wheel speed.

The trans that’s in the new buggy is geared to low but will I notice a big difference in wheel speed if I put my other built trans in?

Trans that’s in
6rib
1st 438
2nd 269
3rd 126
4th 089
The buggy falls on it's face going from 2nd to 3rd with this trans. Also it has too much speed or not enough torque when I get to the top of long hills climbing in 2nd.

Trans I want to put in
6rib
1st 375
2nd 236
3rd 160
4th 130

Thanks, Brad

Brad, you might want to consider installing a 5.47 diesel ring and pinion in that first tranny. That will give you an awesome 2nd. gear transaxle.

Hello,

The ring and pinion in all tranys has a profound affect on all of the other gears. you sound like you sure do need a lower ring and pinion maybe a 550 or something close to that. i would also change your third in that first trany to a 160 so you don't have such a big drop betweeen gears. the ideal gear spread in any trany is an equal drop or at least close to it. for example if they made gears in this illistration. it would be 340, 240 140, 089 so that fourth is not too high. aslo you should never put in a lower gear than the one before it like a 246 second and then a 278 third which don't think is possible to do anyway. Give me a call if you would like to talk trany , maybe i can help. 740-325-1206. My name is Jim.

OK,,,so help me too,,I can make my 456 into 482, 513, or 542 with the Babychains but what aftermarket gears do I need with about 200 hp and 31 v treads or 35 boggers? We need a chart of proven ratios with HP, tire size,, R&P,, etc. :?

try calling weddle, their number is 805-562-8600. when i called for my gears, they were very helpful, and they took the time to talk to be about the different ratios.

Is this a 3-rib? If it is, what motor are you running?
