| Post subject: | bus trans switch |
what is all required in putting a bus trans in my rail buggy Im not sure which trans it is I think 3 rib it is hard to tell with the bus on the ground Im going to cut the whole rear suspension out so Ill have everything my buggy is mainly for the street us with alittle offroad probably looking at 30 inch tires right now 1600 dual port. Also is $350 a good price for a complete 1970 bus this is another Im thinking about buying it also. I have an irs in the car now the main reason for the swap is top run the 30 in tires and not put the extra stress on the car trans the only othe thing I figured was to run some short swampers and I would have buy new wheels. also I have a set of terra tires on wide five wheels they are 31s or 33s on 12in wide wheel some weather checking but still some life left if anyone is interested? |

a 1970 should have a 3 rib. i would not use the bus arms or the torsion they suck and are very week. you will like the 3 rib just get a mount and some car axel shafts |

it requires a different mounting kit than the car, and i had to make a new front mount. The shifter tube will be higher from the floor so you will have to raise the height of your shifter box too -- but it pretty easy to figure -- if you get hung up ask for help -- youll get it. Youll also have to change or redrill/ tap your stub axles unless you run car cvs on the outside. 350 for a bus isnt bad -- the stub axles and tranny are worth that if not more, not to mention axles and cvs. |
