OK ,, showing my ignorance... on the inner pivot bushings on the rear trailing arms there are 2 large washers,,, Where do they go?

I thought that was a matter of adjustment? From what I've read, you put them in different spots to adjust your camber (?) or something like that. Depending on your arms, lift, etc. Or...I could be completely wrong.

One on each side of the bushing. Like this.............-ll--ll-.........the straight up-and-down lines on the outside is the stock bracket, and the inside lines is the washers, the 2 dotted lines in between is the bushing, and the 2 outside dotted lines is the bolt. The setup you see above will give you "zero" setting, put your trailing arms on the buggy and bolt them up on your spring plate and see if the arms are pushing the plates too far inwards or outwards. If the arms are pushing the plate too far outwards, take them back off and take the washer on the "inside" end off and put it back on like this...-lll--l-...(+1 setting) and this should take care of it, if it's too far inwards, do it like this...-l--lll-...(-1 setting) and that should take care of it. These that I'm showing you on here is the driver's side, then do the opposite on the passenger side. If you have a good set of trailing arms, you should be able to use the "zero" setting with no problems. Hope this helps |

the 2 go beside each other if ur arms where built right u dont need to adjust them they both go on the outside together |

Not to argue, but I've tore down plenty of stock beetles, as I'm sure many folks on here have. All the arms on the last two had one washer on each side. Never paid attention to most of them. My buddy's Superbeetle thats sittin in my shop has one washer on each side on drivers side, and two outside on the passenger side. The passenger side of the car was previously wrecked and (half-assed) repaired by a past owner. Could be coincidence, probably not. I put one on each side of the arms on every buggy I have and it seems to work fine. Guess it doesnt really matter much in the woods. Larry |

I know that one of my VW shop manuals states that both washers go on the outside. Some of them don't mention this though. I can't remember which one says that. |

Every bug I have ever worked on has had them both on the outside. There are two of them so you can have adjustment if necessary. |

OK OK I stand corrected! Had to check my manul...My ex-boss! He said they both BELONG on the outside, but he's seen them everywhere. And that they can be moved to correct alignment, just like BadVW said. Maybe it was coincidence.

My 3x11 trailing arms have one washer inside and 1 inside. This made the alignment with the dual spring plates better and it works just fine. |

No pictures purple rail, Firebug has seen them though. The axles are 26"s long. The wheels are totaly inverted. Like a corvete wheel. So that the buggy is regular width. |
