What does the 542 come in? Is it an aftermarket gear? I know 3, 5, and 6 rib trannys come with different ratios but what does the 542 gear come in? |

Came in a 3 rib. Was not a very common ratio and pretty rare. Must have the matching pinion shaft to go with it. It is the weakest ring gear out of all of them. |
According to Weddle, The 5.42 is supposed to stronger then the 5.38.
Is the pinion shaft from this diesel transaxle the same as a regular 091, 4.56 pinion shaft? If not, what does it take to make it work? How does the diesel 5.46 R&P compare in strength to the 4.56 091? SORRY STEVE, did not mean to hijack your thread! |
