Hey I have a 2.4 turbo ecotec and finally broke my 091 side shift transaxle, I'm looking for opinions on what to do to build this back to hopefully hold up better? Any tips or info at all would be very much appreciated, thanks again!

Thanks Terry when you say 1st and 2nd would you recommend a different ratio or just Weddle racing gears?

It depends on what your doing with the buggy, but it can handle a lot higher gear, I did run a 311.236 2nd and it did great. I now run 378 first and 246 second because I switch to bigger tires and run 1st climbing. If you use 3rd and 4th really hard look into welded gears from weddle

I run 35 inch boggers with a V6 VTEC and I went up to a 246 2nd gear. Works great.

I also did the tosion input shaft, super diff and weddle 1st and 2nd gears. No problems so far...

Mickey mouse I'm running 35 inch bloggers as well and think I'm gonna pretty much copy your build, do you think I would be alright not changing gears or do you feel its worth the money?

gears are about the best money spent on a buggy.

Race bug is right gearing is what makes a buggy. Plus stock gears won't hold up for long with that hp

Good enough for me sounds like I should go ahead and do it! That's being said are you happy with your gearing or do you think a different ratio would be better? Not trying to drive everybody crazy just want to do this one time and do it right plus make the best of the money spent! Thanks so much everybody!

if you call weddle, they are pretty good at pointing you in the right direction for gear ratios.

I'm running the 3.11/2.36 with a stock 2.4 and love it. But if I was making more or less power, I would have to change things up. There is so much to factor in when choosing gears. Weight, hp, tire height, tire width, what your wanting to build it for. Mines built to hill climb .

Terry, you got a R&P too, or are you climbing in 1st?

1st and 2nd just depends on hill. I'm about 3 mph slower than a 5.43 2nd gear at 7000 rpm in 1st and 11mph faster in 2nd at 7000rpm with the stronger 4.57 r@p. Seems to work pretty good, still need some more seat time though

It's hard for me to get used to my 311 first ..Especially on a hill where I'm in and out of the gas . And my buggy probably is 2000 lbs . I would like to try a 344
