Does any one know if there is a air or electric locker for a 3 or 6 rib transmission ? I don't want to put a spool in it cuz I feel it will make regular street driving annoying. Plus I like my cutting brakes Image

X2 I would like to know if there is anything we can engage and disengage when we don't want it.

I have an 091/094 locker and it probably would not have gotten
you out of that mud hole.
The land anchor is used by heavy 4x4s in deep
mud:

The best form of traction control is the connection between your hat rack and your foot. That's a good example of go and try it again. The next best form of traction control is to have some real tires, another example of go home and try again.

Lol yeah it may not of got me out but it was a huge pain in the ass, i was able to work it back and forth a little but I had to use the cutting brake to get both wheels to spin and it was like I said a pain.
I have 31 boggers on it right now I'm thinking about 35 boggers but idk if that extra weight and tire size will break my cvs and tranny

Since I like trails, a winch is my favorite investment. It is way to easy to break things trying to get out of a hole.

When I get stuck, I just pull out the winch and I am free in 2 minutes with nothing broken.

Sadly I have a wench with 50 ft line and 30 ft tow rope but I was to far from anything to winch it, I need to buy a land anchor. I just thought a electric locker would be freaking awesome ! But it looks like no one makes them

I would agree, a locker would be interesting. For hills and trials, I would rather not have a locker and use my brake to steer. However, in the Mud, a locker might be better.

I agree, that's why I won't be buying it. It would be interesting if you could find one for the right price.

Ive looked at them.... better off buying a weddle or mendeola or something like that for the money and having your choice of gears. I am still waiting to hear about someone running the Subaru transaxle with reverse cut R&P.

I don't like the mendeola cuz of the size of them, iv heard alot of good things about the suby trannys and they are 5 speeds so that is a plus but idk

My Funco will be the last buggy I'll build with a VW transaxle. A 5 speed Subaru is in my future, then there will be ZERO VW parts on anything I build.

Lol mike it's insane to think that they all used to be nothing but vw.
Have yall found any cheaper subaru transmissions? all the ones I find are 1k plus the 1500 for the reverse r&p

If a buggy had a locker, I don't think you would be able to trail ride. The race buggies I have seen with spools have a much larger turning radius.

From what I can tell the "mini locker" unlocks during turning . I'm cerious to know if it will unlock during use of the turning brake. And how it holds up to trail riding

That works just like a lock-rite, only locks if power is applied. I never had any problems turning but I had a buggy with an a-arm front suspension. You can lock down a wheel but only if you're coasting or off the gas.

I originally ordered my HV1 with a locker. I would stick to a torque biasing diff if you are gonna get away from the open diff. My experience with it was trying to say the least. It has a knack for walking you off the trail on off camber climbs. If every hill was a straight path and you were pointed straight at it it would be an animal. In real world riding without a front diff helping pull you back straight you will just end up 3/4 of the way up a hill stuck sideways. Especially if it's a wet trail.
