what kind of cv grease is everyone useing? i was using just generic waterproof high temp grease but am now leaning towards redline cv2. any opions/horror stories?

i curently am cleaning 26 944/924 cv's and 8 bug cv's so would like to have the best i can get.

Does anyone have a good lead on a grease tool to use? One would deff save me alot of time!

redline is good, and the best tool ive found is the palm of your hand with some surgical gloves on ,unfortunately :lol: :lol:

I use Swepco 101 Moly grease, and yes with the Palm and plenty of gloves.

Caterpillar Gold if you can find it, usually available at large dealerships like Stowers.

I fill a zip lock bag with grease and cut the corner off and squeeze the grease in that way. Much cleaner!

I never use gloves just the palm and a lot of rags. ;) that grease sure does help cracked hands in the winter time!

Having had some scuffing issues with previous 'moly CV' greases that was down to them having bugger all moly actually in them, especially for what CV's get subjected to, we've switched over to running Millers Hi-Mol grease, 20% moly instead of the usual 2%, haven't run them in the buggy yet but it's doing a great job in the 4wd's CV's, they still look like new after 3 seasons.

I ended up going with Lucas red n tacky. Has great reviews, very affordable for as much as I need. Going to finish cleaning cv's in the morning. Been busy today mounting my mid shift :D . I can't wait to play in the snow!

using a long piece of 1/4" all thread makes clocking cv's a hell of alot easier too! what kind of transaxle oil is everyone using? im using two quarts of brad penn 75w-90 and 1.7 quarts of castrol 80w-90

Millers 75w-90 nanotech, their BM oil was great stuff but doesn't play nice with synchro's, so trying the NT stuff.

I really hope not! Shop only had two tubes so I was only able to do 4 CV's. So I'll give it a try and check after a few rides. Still a ton better than the generic waterproof gunk i was using originally. Got plenty of back ups so if its junk no big deal lol.

I used to mix swepco with red and tacky. worked fine that way.
