ok this is my problem i have a rail that i have converted to a liquid cooled 2.3 fuel injected with a beetle trans and it worked very well but i wanted a stronger trans so i purchased a three rib from nasty habits so i installed it and hooked up the clutch cable but it seemed the clutch lever on the trans was moving way too far and then it jammed. so i pulled it back out again and measured the spacing of the throw out bearing on the trans vs. the spacing on the engine and there is a little more than a 1/4" difference i have been reading that the early modal three ribs take the older style pressure plate that has the spacer ring in it. i hope there not talking about the three finger one, i have seen the multi finger as a diaphragm one with the spacer before but i dont know where to buy the spacer at. the trans # is 002 301103A it does not have the input shaft sleeve guide that i have read that some of the later ones have.does anyone know where i can get this said spacer from or do i have to get another pressure plate, or am i looking at this wrong and have something else wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

If the trans doesnt have the cone that the throw out bearing rides on then you need the washer/ring on the pressure plate forks.im not sure if you can add it though? Might have to buy another pressure plate Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2 |

Yes you can add the spacer. I just switched my 3 rib for an older 3 rib and had to add the spacer to my pressure plate. It cost $15 and how's on in 3 minutes. I can't remember where I got it from. But its made by Kennedy. I did a search for Kennedy pressure plate spacer. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using TapaTalk |

You can add the spacer but you may want to consider this to be a good chance to upgrade to a stronger pressure plate. With a 2.3 FI and a bus trans, you will now need more clutch grip. Now is the time...... |

the clutch never had a problem before it has the ceramic hockey pucks on one side and the organic on the other and worked great besides i dont think its a stock pressure plate anyway its ALOT harder than my other railbuggy and i mean alot. But yes thanks for the advice. its always appreciated. |
