Fabricate a 1/8 inch plate like this one between main case and bellhousing to help stop case spread.

well short of busting it all the way down and installing new roller bearings, tapered bearings and hand packed needle bearings, in addition to the 4 spider diff, i would get a chromoly pinion nut, torsional input shaft and mainshaft bearing retainer plate or whatever its called that goes between the nose cone and gear carrier/mid section |

Charlie, did you notice the chainsaw next to the hole in the steel plate? Ask your mom for 1 of those next Christmas! Had some gamewarden/hunter issues at leeds Sun. Going to Flipindale this week end. Deer season is over at the end of this month. |

Regarding that plate. Y'all say 1/8" inch plate to stop the case from spreading. Would ar plate be good to make it out of or would that possibly be to hard. I know its some tuff stuff because even when its red hot its hard to bend. We use it for build the floors of our trash trucks and I manage to get some cutoffs from time to time and I just picked up 2 good size pieces awhile back. And is there any other modifications to the case needed to do this. I'm asking because I just picked up a side shift a few weeks back and the more I can do myself the better. |

AR plate won't add any strength in that application. I don't know if you've drilled any AR plate, get ready to hate the idea of using it. If your adding this plate you might as well use it as a mounting plate as well, add a couple of ears down low and drill a couple of mounting holes. |

Yeah Mike I've drilled it before and your right it's no fun. I just figured I have more time than money and the plate was a freebie and also thought about using it for a mount plate. I've also got a piece that is just right for a skid plate too. I guess it just me taking after my old man and being cheap. |
