What setup would work with a 5 rib trans? I haven't seen any reviews on the 5 rib, all i've heard is 3 rib or 6 rib. Just considering the 5 rib as an option if I can't get a 3 or 6 rib trans.

I am considering using a 5 rib with an 1835cc or 1915cc setup.

The 5-rib has a lot more wheel speed most have a 4:86 gear. A 3-rib has a 5:38 or a 48 so it takes more power to run a 5-rib and the 5-rib is a lot stronger trans. Most people with a 1915 like em.Nothing the same about the 3 and 5 tho

Is there any difference between the 5 rib and 6 rib? Would a 5 rib work in a 1835cc setup?

3 and 5 rib have the same 1-4th gears.. difference is the ring and pinion..4.86 for the 5 rib and 5.38 in the 3 rib. I would suggest the 5 rib, because the extra speed helps on longer hills. A 6 rib is a lil much for anything less than a stroker in my opinion. A 5 rib has a stronger r-p than the 3 rib, but all other internals are the same..

I ran a y rib with a 1641 garage floor motor. Ran just fine. I went from bug tyranny. To 6 rib didn't really see a difference. 6 rib is a better tranny

I use a 5 rib in my buggy. I have a 1915 with dual carbs and I run 31" cut Firestones. It's the prefect combination for my horsepower and tire size. I love it.
