Just got hold of 2 . 6 rib trans. Both have 1977 date codes, both have CP as the trans code. But 1 uses the standard. Bug starter the other uses one with a longer be fix shaft, how can a guy tell exactly what trans he's got?

bell housing has been changed on car starter. there is a number on lower side of the tranny in back. I believe. Hope this helped.

Why would a person need / want to change the bell housing?im not seeing any benifit other than a car starter is cheaper.

One is longer than the other as well the 091 bell is longer and the short one is 002 so use whatever one your buggy is all rdy set up for and the one your starter will work with
