 Post subject: 6 rib what to do?

this is third 6 rib thinking all similar problem havent tore into other ones what should i do to fix and prevent from happning again tranny are getting expensive looking for long term fix

Ya exactly what lpb said ! And chromoly side cover . I had a china diff they are junk junk. Junk blew a side screw out of my 6 rib when diff broke ruined everything . 3 hrs of mild riding on tranny .

I believe it is a Renault UN5 transaxle out of a van they only have across the pond.

i dont know much when it comes to building a trans but if this keeps going on maybe something is not in line right or shimmed correctly or something along them lines

Lay off the cut brakes til ya get a German 4 diff. And if ya have enough power and ya keep on cut braking doing donuts, your case will crack. Who said that? I said that. Been there , done that several times. lol

Someone must have fetched a container full of them over there not long back because I know there's a guy building a Honda powered sand racer over there with one in. The nose is a little longer than the VW but otherwise it pretty much slides in. If you have a long arse on your buggy the long nose won't be an issue, if it is, hook it over the top of the beam.

as far a shims go how much play is suppose tobe in there cause i have had a lil more then i think you want thats what i was thinking that my axles are sucking them out and causeing them to spin then break but idk ?

i do use cutting breaks a good bit never thought that would be a problem and if i get the diffs with the 4 spider gears everything will be better and is there any one that sells a complete diff bolt in ready cause as you can see the only thing that looks good is the ring gear i dont want a tempoary fix looking for the permanet one

just a reminder. U can't use a cut brake if you have a solid diff.
