About 5hrs ago. Don't know what happened. Just see a crack around the outside mounting flange of the nose cone and gear oil leaking out. I let off the clutch and the shifter moves about an inch. Pretty sure the pinion nut blew off. Posted using the WoodsBuggy Mobile App |

Pinion nut and or pinion bearing, plus I'd bet it got the mainshaft bearing also, hopefully your gearstack is ok. I've done that twice, in mine it was the pinion bearing housing splitting. |

This will be the 3rd time this has happened. I have another 6 rib with everything Weddle but the r&p, wondering if I need to get an $1100 r&P? Chromoly pinion nut with red Loctite What needs to be done to stop the pinion nut from backing off? |

I've had good luck with weddle's wide flange pinion nut and blue locktite, it stayed on even though the pinion bearing housing split twice. They are a pain to install, but I think they're indestructible. |

you could try a case with a steel sleaved pinion bore.. or loose some horse power

I meant the outer housing of the pinion bearing itself. Threaded part of pinion bearing broke off with wide flange chromo pinion nut still attached. I think the new weddle nuts are too brittle, not had any problems with good ole german used one installed since.
