Finally got the buggy going after a engine rebuild and installing a six rib. Got it out running around in the yard and I have a hard time getting 4th without having too force it. Looked around but I cant find directions on how too properly adjust the shift rod. Any suggestions?

Empi shifter, new shifter bushing on tower, new coupler on 091 shaft, adjuster welded in at the coupler, and also installed the steel shift ball inside the nose cone. Trans had never been installed in a buggy.

The best way is to get rid of that shifter  after one weekend i hate my empi shifter. When i first got it the button popped out and hit me in the nuts.

As far as setup and adjustment im lost so i hope someone chimes in.

I was always told to put the trans in reverse and make any adjustments from there.

I am fed up trying to get my shifter adjusted ugh! In detail what do I do, put the trans in reverse then adjust shifter length? what about adjustment at the shifter (2 bolts) I have been doing every combo I can think of and I will get 3rd and 4th w/ rev then no rev. with 1,2,3,4 it is a car trans with empi shifter and weld in adjuster. HEELLLPPP MMEEEEE PLEASE !!!!!

Install shortened stock shifter.
http://www.vw-resource.com/plateadj.html
If you have a shifter adjuster.
Loosen jam nut.
Remove cross pin.
Put Trans in reverse.
Put shifter in reverse.
Adjust adjustment screw in or out until the cross pin goes in freely.
Without moving anything tighten jam nut.
Test
Rip it up!

Hey, No problem, most of us have an aftermarket shifter hidden in a dark corner of our garage, but most won't admit to it.

with the adjustment all the way out (on the last thread) it still wasn't long enough. Took it apart and gonna lengthen it at work tomorrow.
