Thanks for the feedback Maddog. I've seen that set up before on ebay but I was wondering about matting it up to a 9 inch or something like that with lots of gear sets that would be strong. I know it's been done before using a supra center or something like that. I think Clayton has done it a couple times. Looks like someone on here would know about it.

Well...here goes the well hated Passat here. As short as the powerglide is there is NO distance between the flange of my aluminium 307:1 Linclon Mark VIII 8.8 inch upside down independent diff ($70 at Pull A Part)and the motor pulley. Basically at least a foot shorter The motor pulley is dead even to the diff input flange and they are about a 1" apart from each other. I have never broke a trans or a 8.8 Diff. My elbow rides on the fwd trans with a welded diff in it. It has normal 20" of ground heigth at the lowest point. If that is too much , let some air out of an airbag that lifts a 40" trailing arm that has an incredible soft ride. It will roast my 40"s and lite up my cut 38"boggers. It is a crowd pleaser when I let the 175 horses out. The Vr6 is getting too hard to find and the parts are $ and their are no fixit books on it. If anyone wanted to look into this idea, I'd go Jap.Even a 4 banger would be plenty. And they love 89 pump gas. It 1st hit the woods in the spring of "09. It had a few improvement mods along the way but now I would not change anything. Well maybe some wider cut tires. Hope to make some action vids this week end.

If I can think of it I will take a picture of mine tomorrow. It uses a female splined yoke on the diff. and a male splined slip yoke on the trans. With the 4.3 and nitrous I can honestly say it has never been one of my weak links.
