My son was up in the woods last week riding the buggy. He walked back down after he had caught a tree with the right rear tire some. Said the buggy won't move, went up to find the cv had broken. Winched it around and gave it a good shove to the shop. When I got to tear into to it the tranny end which has a three rib the axle was tac welded to the cv the other end is the car with smaller bolt pattern which was the end that broke apart. What can I do to upgrade the cv's and get the right axles back in this buggy? My arms appear to be stock bug. thanks

The first upgrade you can make is upgrating the stub axle a bust to car stub axle, meaning it is a car stub axle modified to accept the larger bus CV. The second upgrade it to 2X3 trailing arm so that you can use a complete bus axle (CVs and axle shaft).

so the outer stub can be redrilled for the bigger pattern of the bus cv? Do the make aftermarket ones to work?

Something you guys need to understand. The original VW parts, stub axles, drive flanges, spring plates etc. etc. are some of the best metals ever used in automotive parts. Nothing in the aftermarket even comes close to German materials and forging techniques. The 930 drive flanges and stub axles I buy are original VW parts that have been modified to except the 930 bolt pattern. The type 3 drive hubs I have are VW, nothing comes close to them.
If I had a choice between a re drilled stock stub axle or a aftermarket POS you know the choice I would make.
