Post subject:  CV Boot Clamp Question

I bought some of the 930 cv clamps that you tighten to get them on (like a radiator hose clamp) its the one with the rolled edges... Anyway.. I cant seem to get them to tighten up without popping off the lip of the flange... I suspect that may be to wide, but also plan to clean the grease out a but better and try agn. While I have them off agn I will check the width of the clamp in the groove of the flange.

Anyway I read that a lot of you guys are just using zip ties... are these the SS steel ones or we talking about the plastic ones that you just pull tight and cut off... Just want to be sure... I think I would like to stick to what you guys recommend...

Let me know thanks..

there are two different flanges for the 930 boots... the thicker beefy one will hold the boot on with a good plastic zip tie no problem, the cheaper ones i bought for spares wont hold a boot even if you drop kick them bitches on!

Plastic zip ties on the driveshaft end, my boots are bonded on with polyurethane adhesive on the CV end.

I found these on EBay... bought a package... looks like they are good up to 120 Lbs... 13 inches long so plenty long enough to pull and cut to length. Nice metal clip, should do the trick I think... I am still going to get some pics for you though... want to be sure what I have. Might be that I just need to clean the area is all too...
