Post subject:  Transmission Questions (3 rib)

Hey guys, I have a question... is the drivers side the drive side of the trans? I only ask cause I have the axle on my drivers side locking up, off the ground it will turn about 1/4 turn then stop (back and forth)... I notice as I turn it the trans yolk will turn as well (motor is out). I don't think its a cv joint (but will not rule it out)... I am going to put the wheels back on and see if it will roll... but I was wondering could something be stopping it from inside the trans? The passenger side will turn fine.

Thoughts ideas things for me to try... any ideas welcome... insure at this point.

OK I will pull that axle off and switch it to the other side... if the other side catches then I know what I have... I just inspected the cv's and they have fresh swepco 101 in them... they were showing some sign of where but no cracks or anything... After I switch sides I will need to find a way to tell which one it is... I guess a ball could have come out of the seat while I was putting them on (but I don't see how)...

I do feel the trans shift gears, and in neutral I can turn the yolk... so you may be right..

more later...

Man, if it were a bet I would have lost... you were right... the balls moved outside of the cage somehow while I was putting the axle on I guess??? I have never see that happen before. I just re set the cage and then put the axle back on and its fine...

Good Call.
