im trying to put a 3 rib in my buggy and skim on the details for now. couple of questions. stock 70 bug everything right now. can i just buy type 2 cvs and just replace my inboard cvs? if not whats the cheapest alternative? will this work for the clutch http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Hydraulic-Clutch-Pedal-Kit-Floor-Mount,57507.html?utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=CSEGoogle&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&CAWELAID=1413453200 or is there a cheaper way? right now i have stock autostick pedals no clutch pedal. what should I know about flywheels and pressure plates? can I just go to autozone and get a complete setup for a bus?

that should work for a hydraulic clutch pedal setup as long as the slave cylinder is long enough

a type 1 clutch kit is what you need as far as the disk and pressure plate but you need to know if the tranny uses the early or late style thowout bearings

and yes just change the inboard cv's but you will need shorter axles because the bus trans is wider than a car trans

Do not forget the Front and Rear Mounts.. The nose cone & bell housing have different bolt patterns.

You will also need a new starter. The stock type 1 starter will not work on a 3rib trans.

A stock VW starter will work on a 3 rib. You should not have to change the starter.

If you are running stock size rear arms, then Porsche 924/944 from 84 or older will bolt right in, can usually find them on ebay or junkyard.
Good Luck

i bought the whole 3x3 trailing arm kit for 700 when i done mine! but those stub axles didnt last long  so i went back to the german ones. drews sells them. they take type 1 and add a ring to them and drill for type 2. so in a jam you can use either i think? havent had a problem with them since! i still have my old axles and arms off of mine if anyone is interested

i read an articule on that and heard it works well but I cringed at the thought of a 3 rib torquing on some type ones espescially when my main goal is reliability. but none the less thats neither here nor there ive already completed this task and the buggys running again. I ended up getting stub axles and empi axles. appreciate the help though.

the car axles will work on the bus trans that you already had just have to change the joint on the trans end and run a car joint on the bottom end they work good unless you have a good strong moter then you may have to drill them for the bus joint to work if you go to a 2 by 3 arm then you need to get some 18 and 3/4 axles from a bus
