Got a three rib 002 I plan on hooking up on my buggy. I have a few questions though. #1 I have read a few times that the input shaft on the 002 is longer than a type 1 trans. I read it as being about 1/2" longer. But when I measure the difference between my two transmissions I get more like an 1/8 difference. My measuring technique. ![]() #2 which throw out bearing should I use? My 74' sedan bearing (Which is much cleaner, and rolls better), or the one that came on my used bus trans. There are some minor visible differences. ![]()

I've got the throw out bearing thing all figured out. So never mind on that question. And I'm pretty sure its the 091 that has a 1/2 long input shaft that needs to be shortened. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=148307 |

Same throw out bearing... No mod to the shaft needed. |
