Is your gear indicator digital or just the pin attached to a wire on the column. If its digital does it display correctly. When you put it in l1 it sounds like its engaging two gears at once which could be a valve body issue. The more info you give me I'm leaning more toward the trans being bad.

its not digital....takes off in second ...according to dtc its not opening solenoid b it need solenoid b open to go into first....code 86 low ratio error (solenoid b closed)

other than taking off in 2nd it seems to be funtioning properly...just drove it to lima (300 miles round trip) loaded to the gills with carpet,tools and 5 guys,prob a million pounds.....and have put couple thousand miles on it so far.....really think its a wiring or elec prob

well ive put about 3000 hard miles on it since prob started....it hasnt gotten any worse but cant be good for it

okay now im thinkin its been takin off in drive and not in 2nd or 1rst! from a dead stop if you keep it to the floor it will do 70 before it shifts....and then it goes into overdrive....will down shift from od to drive but thats it....wtf!?

take it to a shop? have them look at it. almost sounds like you have more than one thing going on...

I changed a trans for a guy that was having same problems as you. He drove it from Florida to Ohio like this. He tried changing fluid filter and solinoids but didn't help. I can tell you that if you change it yourself the torque converter is difficult to seat in. I had to stand trans on end and spin 3 complete turns. It will drop down 3 times. If it doesn't you will burn up the pump, don't ask me how I know lol.
