I recently bought a buggy, that has apparently a 3rib transmission, however according to the guy I bought it from it has some type stick-o-matic conversion. I have pictures if someone can help me figure out what I have.

Yes you have a stickomatic.
The stickomatic uses a torque converter, meaning you can start or stop without using the clutch, you only have to use the clutch to change gears.
Did you get the engine with it as well?
The torque converter also takes alot of the worry out of breaking the tranny.

It works the same as an automatic, except you have to manually change gears and use clutch while changing.
You can put it in gear let the clutch out an it just sits there til you hit the gas and away it goes.
Heck it'll take off in 4th gear if you want it to.
The stickomatic part just replaces the flywheel and bellhousing of a normal tranny, the gearing stays the same.

The only input I have and all I know is a bus torque converter is 2.5:1 and type 3 is 2.0:1. Don't know what a beetle was.

When you drivin down the road and see a turtle sittin on a fence post, he didn't get there by his self.
Everybody just starting out has to pay their dues, and that's one of the things this site is about, lowering those dues, to get more people in the woods.
Another thing I get kinda disappointed in our members is when they start jackin on ATVs and 4X4s, we're all in the same offroad community, we should stick together.
The greenies love divide and conquer!
Although I do enjoy the occasional bitch slapping some engage in.

I wanted to put one of these in the buggy you bought off me Andrew. Well said Maddog, we used to get along as long as we were in the woods. Not feeling like its like that anymore.
