I know you guys are against car tranny's. What do you think for 200 though? He said as long as your not rough on it, and shift tight into gear you will be fine. Also the mounts on my buggy are set up for this tranny. Its the one he had in it before?

I would agree that a car a tranny will probably work if you stay with a 1600 and small tires. However, $200 bucks sounds a little high.. I would see if he can include some additional stuff. Maybe the gas tank too?

I think he'd be lucky to get a hundred for it.

if you are patient you can find the whole beetle for not much more than $300 ,,maybe less and then you would have lots of extra stuff and even something to sell for scrap afterwards. be patient

That is a great idea and you will also be able to get an engine. When I built my first buggy, I bought a Carmen Gia and tore everything out of it...

It was fantastic.. I sat down in the seat and fell through the floor board.. It sort of ran and had all the important parts. I was able to flat tow it home and rip it to pieces..

Reminds me of a karmen a buddy bought for his wife, the paint was all that was holding it together, they're divorced now.

Just asking would the car tranny/ 4 cv's for 200? He just asked me? To me it seems high, because you guys said 75 for a tranny and 10 per cv so that would be like 115. Just learning.

If he would include the Axles with the CV's.. Go with it.. It will be nice to have a Trans that you know will work. Getting the buggy finished and then finding the Trans in broken sucks..
