Have yall drove a Tiptronic transmssion in any make? New VWs have them in their automatics. You pull the gear selector over to the side and it keeps the trans from changing gears so you can drive it to higher rpms b4 shifting. Drive it like a 4 speed! Pull it back and it downshifts the same way.The wife has 1 in her 03 Beetle and it's would be awesome in a buggy. Look in to it.Basically I think all it is doing is cutting off the fluid when it naturally wants to shift.Dave out.

Well? Yall know I'm on to something. What are we going to do in 5 years when all bus trannys are gone and weedle demands $5k. and the junk yard is full of Honda tiptronics with 3.0 200+hp motors bolted to them for $700.All this ran back to a Ford 9" irs 3.21:1 diff. Absolutley violent and dangerous.

Hey. All I am doing is scratching the surface. There is some smart guy out there with a few extra bucks poised to try it out.

And all this, "DD, you run what you want and we'll run what we want is going to get left behind. It's like a Harley vs. Gold Wing Honda. Gold Wing is gone in a flash with NO noise because Hardley has not evolved in technology with the times.I may not be all that myself, but I am looking for a brilliant young 1 to carry the ball in for a touch down.

Oh. Don't only go in the junk yard and look for the past. Keep up with today's cars and see what will be in the junk yard tomorrow.

My 09 dodge van has that, its nice going down big hills. Minivan aint much of a sportscar though, lol. Better yet Dave is wait a few more years for these Constant Velosity transmissions to start hitting the junk yards.

CVT, like snowmobiles and most 4x4 4wheelers these days. Always the perfect gear to get peak power out of your engine. it adjust to where ever it is needed to be.

The ford Five Hundred / Taurus have a new 263 hp 3.5 L V6 and use The CVT transmission. dont know how you would every use it in a buggy nothing to weld up :?

Awesome. i'll look in t them. I drove the wife's New Beetle with the 5 speed tiptronic. You put it in drive, then push the T handle over into another slot. Then accellerate and you bump it every time you want to shift.Bump it backwards to downshift. If you had it in a buggy and it is not going to make it up a hill just bump it back once and it immediatly downshifts to a lower gear and it picks up more rpm.Somebody please run with this. :o

You know what? My buggy already has this great big lever in the middle that does that too if you push it around the H-gate.

On a hill it would be very nice to be able to shift without losing power briefly to clutch. Much more so then running flat-ish ground at higher speeds. I'd still rather have the CVT setup. And yes, just like the cute little rzr's, lol.

Great.Tiptronic, "Just like the Razors" that helps my case.I read up on the CVT trans. You basicly feel like you are driving with the gas pedal only. Downsides are who has the money, where can u get the motor and trans package, and will it all fit.And it costs $5k for rebuild so who is smart enough to go to this level.Last if your tire's traction breaks loose, will it not think that it has to change to a higher speed? Sometimes u need the tire speed.I love the good feed back, but this controlable 5 speed automatic with a 1/2 inch bump to immediate change up or down is my ticket. Please try to make me feel different.

Rzrs, most 4x4 quads and snowmobiles all run the CVT now, not tiptronic. And the transmissions in the cars would not be any larger then a normal automatic.

I see. Someone a few posts back misled me that Razors had it. Sorry.
