I have been reading and I want to confirm this question. If I buy a set of 2x3 trailing arms and a 5 rib bus transaxle which I already have can I use a set of bus axles like they sell on ebay for 150 for the pair with cvs and all? I am just trying to keep price down as much as possible not concerned badly with strength on the axles as of now just the travel.

Yep that's correct , most of us cut the stops off the torsion to get more travel out of the suspension then we put limit straps on to stop cv bind .
When I have intstalled 2x3 arms I had to adjust the torsion tighter due to the arm having more weight leverage which made the buggy sit lower .
Then I got sick of messing with the torsion so I put bags on it and wow it rode like a caddy !
Golly I'll stop now , im writing a book ! good luck

Just remember that Price is proportional to Quality... (Most of the time)

CV joints and Axles are one of the week links on a buggy and not the best place to find the cheapest parts. Breaking a CV or Axle on the trail is NEVER fun..

I bought some axles from advance with the life time warranty. The only problem i had with then was the fact that the splines on the axles were different. I broke a joint in the woods and couldnt fix it because or that. One axle had vw splines and the other one didnt.

Thanks only problem with that is the 75.00 core which I don't have even a reg vw. I just want to get it going so I don't loose interest and me and my kid can enjoy building it.

bus axles are used with 2x3 arms and bus tranny, car tranny and 2x3 arms require longer than bus axle but not sure what the length is though
