my motor is pretty peppy for a 2276, but I was thinking about playing around with the transmission to see what more pep i could get out of it for climbing.... It is currently a stock 6 rib with a superdiff. Any suggestions? Taller first and closer 2nd? maybe a r&p? Going in half ways blind, thanks for the input....

It all depends on how much $ you want to spend. Me personaly, im thinking of just going with a taller 1st gear with the stock 4.57 ring and pinion.

Aftermarket 2nd 2.48 with 5.42 r&p engine turns 13.44 per 1 tire rotation.
Stock 1st 3.78 with 4.57 engine turns 17.27 turns per 1 tire rotation.
Stock 1st with 4.86 r&p turns 18.37 turns per 1 tire rotation.
Stock 2nd with 4.86 turns 10.11 turns per 1 tire rotation.
So, my opinion is stay stock unless you want to build a 2nd gear 5.42 with aftermarket 1&2 which will cost near $1600 in parts alone.
I hope my math is correct, I've had a few tonite.
