i think i have decided to go with a 5 rib thats what i can get my hands on right now for the money...thanks for everyones input i really appreciate it

a lot of folks like the 3 rib better with a 1915 due to the gearing, however a 6 rib is much stronger and the 5 rib falls somewhere in between but the final gearing is different with all 3 trannys (3 rib is lowest geared and 6 rib is highest geared) how heavy is the buggy, what type of riding do you plan on doing, what size tires are you running and what cam, carb, and heads are on the 1915? |

the buggy is prolly 14 to 1500 lbs mostly just riding but like to climb a few hills too dont like the real long ones tho. im running 31 15.50 vtreads the motor has a vz15 cam,2 barrel progressive webber carb and stock heads that dave marks did the woodsport on and polished with hd single springs |

The gearing in the trans is like riding a 10 speed bike. Are you legs (engine) strong enough to start in 1st gear or 5th gear. A 3 rib is similar to riding a bike in 1st gear. The engine does not need to work as hard or have as much power but you loose some speed. A 6 rib is similar to riding a bike in 5th gear. The engine has to have more power to turn the wheels but you can go faster if you have the power. With a 1915 and 31 inch tires, I would not be overly concerned about strength. You will most likely not break a 3 rib and if you are on a hill, you might need to extra power. You will be able to spin the tires easier with a 3 rib. |

i say go with the 5 rib you should not break it a 3 rib is to easy to break at any random time and the gearing with the 5 will work well with the 1915 |
