While riding at WindRock, my buggy started making a terrible noise while shifting. I dropped the engine this afternoon and found a bunch of metal shavings in the Glad Nut.. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the Input Shaft was completely rounded off and worn down.

I am running a 6 Rib trans with a 6 Rib bell housing.. What would cause the input shaft to rub? Should I just trim down the input shaft..

if its been together for very long and just now caused a problem i doubt the input shaft was too long, im guesing the pilot bearing in the end of the gland nut went bad

yea just take the bell off and check it out.

The pivot bearing was shredded into pieces.. I will go ahead and replace the Gland Nut and take a look at the bell housing.. Hopefully, there is nothing else wrong..

make sure you get the gland tight enough, ive seen a couple of ruined cranks and flywheels lately due to the nut not being tight enough

You should probably measure the end play as well.And trim the input shaft a touch.
