i have recently completed my buggy build and i had suby steve get me a tranny out of a bus in ever sinse i put it in it has been clicking in reverse i took it outnother day for test run and need reverse well it poped like when i go to put it in reverse it seem to grind like the gear is there but dosent engage not sure what the cause is but droped a couple hundred on it and just wondering why reverse would have went that quick my brother has a 5 rib and it hums but is still there thx for your help and input |

check your linkage or shifter, there could something wrong other than the trans |

I got my 6rib off suby steve last year. It whines pretty loud in reverse But it works good lol. Mine will also pop out every so often, BUT its a vw trans reverse gets babied anyways, and for the price i paid for mine from steve I wouldnt complain if reverse did blow lol. Check your linkage, My old 3rib wouldnt go in reverse I took everythin apart , put it back together and adjustd and it worked great. |

i put a new linkage in it and adjusted the shifter still cant find the problem and im not complaining just dont know what could of happened it was stright out of a bus they torched the axles so no reall hard time on it i got a subaru 2.2 motor behind it |

It takes very little abuse to gut any vw reverse except the waterboxer 094 reverse. |

try unhooking the linkage and then shifting it into rev. with a pair of visegrips.then youll know for sure if its the tranny or not. |
