I decided to go with the vanagon tranny in my new build instead of the 091 6 rib because I have had great luck the last 4 years with the one in my old rail. I was thinking I was going to go with the cable shift because I did not have the room for the linkage I bought from Gary at Davis Racing for the old rail. But then I was talking to Ron at weddle and he told me they had a linkage that they were selling that worked great, here are some pics of it. They are selling it for 295.00

The dust boot covers the "U" joint. It has to articulate in order for the linkage to function.

My guess is ball and socket, similar to the stock setup.

Here is a video of the linkage in action. The rear of the tranny is not bolted down so it is moving a little and the engine is not running so of course it will be even smoother with the engine running.
