If I was starting from scratch, the Bell housing would definatly be the way I would go. Not real fond of having an additional plate between the trans and Engine. In my case it would have given me an additional 5/8" for the badly needed Turbo plumbing. It allows you to us the Inexpensive Subaru starter and does away with the VW clutch design. You can buy a Subaru clutch setup that can handle 500HP. |

There a little on the new side and I havent seen any used yet. But if you think about it it worth it after you add up the adapter and starter with a good clutch. The bellhousing one you use the stock suby clutch starter wich are stronger and redily avalible. |

There are good and bad on both adapters. The KEP is simpler but you add a half inch to the motor setback,,,not a bad thing though. I have the starter thing worked out. The VW diesel starter whizzes my 3.3. It's $75 on ebay or $125 for a Bosch at O'rielleys. Then a slight mod. I have great luck out of a KEP stage 4 PP and 6 puck disc. The more VW stuff you have on your buggy the easier it is to get parts on the trail. |
